I have closed angle glaucoma and have lost sight in my right eye. I have been using eye drops to manage the eye ball pressure. I find it a challenge to determine how much of the eye drops is left in the bottle because the bottles are mostly opaque. Shaking the bottles doesn’t work when there is just a small amount: the bottles can feel empty and still have fluid. The other day, I was rather aggressive in trying to squeeze out the last drop of an eyedrop and poked myself in the eye. This ruptured the white in my eye which soon got red and very painful. I saw my eye specialist right away and he gave me a prescription of Zymar to use to prevent an infection. That was yesterday. I am supposed to put one drop in the injured eye every 6 hours. So far, I have not had any side effects. And Zymar seems to be getting along with the three eye drops I am using for gklaucoma: Azopt, Timilol and Xalatan. My doctor wants me to see him tomorrow to follow up. I want to add that I am Canadian and live in Toronto. As a result opf our universal health care, I paid nothing to see my specialist and he gave me a bottle of Zymar at no cost! This is how health care should be, and I do hope that with Obama now President of the US, that Americans will soon be enjoying worry-free universal health care as we have been doing in Canada since the 60s.
