Symlin increased my blood sugar dramatically. I was on Byetta, Humalog and Lantus. Byetta 10 mcg, Humalog (about 4 to 8 units/day) and Lantus 14 units/day). My HBA1C was 6.0
I went on Symlin and even at 120 three times per day, my morning blood sugars became 180 whereas on my old regiment (byetta) I typically woke up at 103. After meals on Byetta, if it was a truly awful meal with too many carbs, my blood sugar, at the most, would be 155. On Symlin, anything I ate drove my blood sugar into the 200′s. What a ridiculous medication. I went off it yesterday, returned to Byetta, and my blood sugar right now, 2 hours after a meal is 115. I can’t understand it. I have seen no literature supporting why I have had the opposite effect of what the medication is supposed to do. Anybody?
