Pantroprazole was prescribed after my intolerance to Omeprazole. After a relatively short time I was diagnosed with severe anemiaand started taking a double dose of iron. I didn’t associate my problem with Pantoprazole until I started intestinal bleeding every day. I had recent colonoscopy and even small intestine study with no problems so this was very puzzling. I suspected the Pantoprazole, but the doctor said that was unlikely. After a consultation with a surgeon, who emphasized the seriousness of my problem, I asked to stop Pantoprazole for one month to see if it made a difference. After 5 days the bleeding had completely stopped and the stomach cramps stopped, too. It is taking a while to get over the soreness in my abdomen, but unless there is a repeat experience after stopping Pantoprazole, I am convinced that caused this bleeding. I’d like to know why.
