severity of symptoms started very gradually, starting with lowering of blood pressure and slowing of heart rate,to shortness of breath,
increasing effects of sleep apnea even with a-pap
    ussage and eventually modafonil perscriptions,
and depression and extreme feelings of dispair,
shortness of breath and lethargy mimicing heart
failure. All tests were monitored and GP and Cardiologists and not discribed in drug handouts
    provided.

I call it the death pill because thats what it makes you feel like. Severe reaction on my asthma, stomach, ulcers, ear infections, jitters, numbness, tingling, blurred vision, im sure there are 50 more i havent mentioned oh thats right “memory loss”, fatigue, constipation and or diarhea, there really should be a better beta blocker out there somewhere. I take this one for high blood pressure and i think i was better off with the high blood pressure.

I have only taken metoprolol for 2 days and I feel like I am suffocating. My muscles feel stiff and I have alot of heartburn. I also feel bloated and very uncomfortable. I will not take it anymore. I hate blood pressure medication! I was taking atenolol for months and had trouble concentrating, thinking, and remembering. I had no energy to do anything nor did I care if anything got done. My doctor tells me now that it effects the central nervous system. I wonder what else it effects!

Fatigue was the biggest problem while taking Metoprolol. It was so bad that when I would come home from work I had to go straight to bed.I also had severe joint pains associated with this medication. I have since changed to Toprol XL, which has made a big difference.

This drug made my elderly mother suicidal. Extreme depresion, horible nightmares; the list could go on. Her doctor was dismissive of the side effects, but they stopped within 2-3 days of taking the drug.

I had been suffering from asthma most of my life until about 6 years ago and suddenly it went away. I started this medication about 3 days ago and haven’t been able to catch my breath since. I’ve had to use an inhaler for the first time in 6 years. I urge anyone with even a minor history of asthma not to take this medication!!!
