It only took 10 days for my reactions to become out of control. I had read about the reactions but, mine seemed not the norm. Now I will tell you I had an intestental bypass 35 years ago so I only have 14 inchs of small intestine. The doctor put me on the Januvia knowing that this medication does it’s work best from the intestines. My sugar has never been above 255 even when I was diagnoised with diabetis. It was caused by my knees starting to break down and my quality of life became a wheel chair. I finally have both knees replaced and doing well. Sugar now runs about 112-140, depending if I eat enough. The reason he started me on the Januvia was the fact I was having shortness of breath the Actos. So my reactions were this:
Could not sleep at night but fell a sleep at work , sometimes almost falling out of my chair.
Feet and legs swelled so bad had to wear slippers to work.
Could not eat with out feeling sick to my stomach.
Was confused several times a day and not being able to be on task.
I became dehydrated and yet had to go to the bathroom all the time.
Finially when I decided enough was enough I started throwing up.
Two days after going off of it I felt like a hugh cloud had been taken off my shoulders.
Last but not least my sugar was higher than it had ever been. 160-180 and never consistant.
So needless to say I will not be taking it any more. Remember I have only a small amount of intestine so my reactions may have been some what more severe than others who have normal intestinal tracts.
