I was on depakote (I don’t recall the dosage) and was hospitalized in late February of 2006 with pancreatitis. The doctor treating me put me back on the Depakote while I was in the hospital. Four days after I was released from the hospital my housemate found me unresponsive on the floor. I was hospitalized and in a coma for 12 days. Once again the doctors managing my care put me BACK on the Depakote. Finally, after a month in the hospital and one in a rehab facility for physical therapy, when I returned home and contacted my psychiatrist he immediately ordered that I stop taking Depakote. Not one of the physicians or medical staff treating me for pancreatitis or coma even contacted my psychiatrist.
