   Hello.
   I went to a Dentist for “Tooth Infection”. I was prescribed Clindamycin. It has been 9 days since I stopped taking the medication. About every 3 days I get stomach pain, then diarhea. I have also had flatulance. My only explaination for this is the Clindamycin. The onset is sudden for the stomach pain and diarhea. I only too half the medication before the severe diarhea. Can anything be done to relieve these effects? I am taking Acidophilus bacteria and eating yogurt.

   A dentist prescribed Clindamycin for dental infection. I was getting mild nausea, stomach pain, and diarrhea, alternating with constipation every few days after I finished the pills. It has continued to worsen, almost 4 weeks later I’ve had severe pain, nausea, diarrhea. Today I drank about 2 ounces of ginger ale and couldn’t eat, then started violent vomiting for about 5 hours straight before calling my family doctor, who said to go to the emergency room and get a stomach/intenstinal sonogram. I was unable to eat or drink all day, but still brought up fluid. I’ve finally been able to eat saltines and drink diet Coke and it’s stayed down about 2 hours. I see my family doctor tomorrow for a follow up. Yogurt and a bland but uber-healthy diet have done nothing to relieve the symptoms this past month. I’ve been able to exercise about every other day because I’m so nauseated every other day (with constipation and/or diarrhea).
