I have extreme gas and hear burn since starting Byetta. Wondered if others do as well. It was so severe, I thought I was having a heart attack and my doctor did an EKG, and stress test, which was very expensive. But decided it was a side effect of Byetta since the gas pains started with the injections.

I have taken byetts for a few years & in Jan. of 2009 I had severe stomach pains. I stayed in a fetal position. I went to a gi dr in Greenville,SC & was told it was due to stress. I was given med that I took one time & got very nauseous & suppositories – I never used them, Then I had tests at the hospital-nothing found, Went to diabetic nurse & she took me off byetta. Now, the severe pain is gone but I still have stomach aches every am.

I started taking Byetta two months ago. At first I noticed I had more gas than usual. My bowel movements were the next to change. They were frequent and it was beginning to hurt to wipe anymore. (Pain relief neosporin did the trick.)

Then one day I felt a gas bubble travel from my abdomen to my chest. I felt like I was having a heart attack. The pain went away after a few minutes.

I stopped taking Byetta about two weeks ago. The symptoms were more than I could take any more. My bowels are still not the same. I still have severe gas and I still go to the bathroom pretty frequently.

I am actually considering a colon cleanse. I do not know what else to do to get my self back to normal.
