Avelox taken in early March has caused me to have severe hepatitis. ALT and AST counts are in the thousands. Jaundice went away and bilirubin is normal now. All scans were negative, but a liver biopsy showed scarring and inflamation. ALT and AST started coming down, but five weeks ago started going back up. My GI doc wants me to see a liver transplant specialist. I was healthy as a horse til this happened. I am not taking any other drugs or drinking alcohol or anything, yet the ALT and AST are climbing and I’m sure my liver is really in bad shape.HELP! Is there anything else that can be done??
took avelox for 7 days post op sinus surgery and developed severe arthralgias in my arms and hips. stopped the drug and took aleve but it did not work. took motrin for the past two days and it is helping but now i’m having stomach pains.
I have been taking Avelox off and on for my sinus problems. I never put two and two together until a few days ago. I have had severe hives, joint pain to the point that I had to be hospitalized for two weeks. I could not dress myself from the joint pain- I could not feed myself and I had to use a walker for over two weeks. This was last year- no one knew what it was. I have been going to the allergy specialists and they could not find anything wrong. Then- once again- another sinus infection so I got Avelox two weeks ago. This time it actually came with a huge page of side effects. When I read them I was amazed because 70% off the severe side effects- I have been going thru the past year to two years and none of my doctors had put two and two together. This medication is very dangerous. It should not be allowed until they get it fixed. Yes, it does help chronic sinus infections but the other things it causes is just not worth it. I just hope what I went thru will help other people having symptoms so they do not get as bad as I have gotten.
