Tigecycline and cardiac arrest Patient Reports February 12, 2012

Tigecycline Side Effects Report #4978362-6
Tigecycline side effect was reported by a Consumer or non-health professional from ARGENTINA on Apr 11, 2006. Female patient, 51 years of age, was diagnosed with pneumonia  and was treated with Tigecycline. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: bradycardia, cardiac arrest , cerebral infarction, depressed level of consciousness, haemoptysis, neurological symptom, thrombocytopenic purpura, ventricular fibrillation. Tigecycline dosage: 100 MG LOADING THEN 50 MG EVERY 8 HOURS. During the same period patient was treated with HYDROCORTISONE, SALBUTAMOL, IPRATROPIUM BROMIDE, RANITIDINE, MOSAPRAMINE, HEPARIN CALCIUM, THEOPHYLLINE, DOPAMINE. Patient died.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: bradycardia, cardiac arrest , cerebral infarction, haemoptysis, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, ventricular fibrillation. Tigecycline dosage: 100 MG LOADING THEN 50 MG EVERY 12 HOURS. During the same period patient was treated with HYDROCORTISONE, SALBUTAMOL, IPRATROPIUM BROMIDE, RANITIDINE, MOSAPRAMIDE, HEPARIN CALCIUM, THEOPHYLLINE, DOPAMINE. Patient died.

Female patient, 52 years of age, was diagnosed with acinetobacter bacteraemia, staphylococcal bacteraemia and was treated with Tigecycline. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: bradycardia, cardiac arrest , fungaemia, shock. Tigecycline dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with TICARCILLIN. Patient died.

Female patient, 52 years of age, was diagnosed with abdominal infection, acinetobacter bacteraemia, pleural infection, pneumonia bacterial and was treated with Tigecycline. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: bradycardia, cardiac arrest , condition aggravated, fungal sepsis, multi-organ failure, septic shock, tachycardia. Tigecycline dosage: 50 MG 2X PER 1 DAY INTRAVENOUS. During the same period patient was treated with TICARCILLIN. Patient died.
