Rifampin Side Effects Report #5011821-9
Rifampin side effect was reported by a Consumer or non-health professional from UNITED STATES on Mar 20, 2006. Male patient, 53 years of age, was diagnosed with tuberculosis  and was treated with Rifampin. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: alanine aminotransferase increased, anorexia, aspartate aminotransferase increased, blood alkaline phosphatase increased, blood bilirubin increased, fatigue, hepatic failure, hepatic necrosis, nausea . Rifampin dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with PYRAZINAMIDE, NIFEDIPINE, HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE, ECOTRIN. Patient died.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: abdominal pain , alanine aminotransferase increased, anorexia, aspartate aminotransferase increased, bilirubin conjugated increased, blood alkaline phosphatase increased, blood bilirubin increased, hepatitis c positive, hepatocellular damage. Rifampin dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with PYRAZINAMIDE, DILANTIN, ZYRTEC, PENICILLIN VK, COLACE, VASOTEC, MOTRIN. Patient died.

Rifampin dosage: 300MG, ONE CAP BY MOUTH. During the same period patient was treated with PREMARIN, ALPRAZOLAM, HYDROXYZINE, LEVOTHROID, LISINOPRIL AND HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE, OMEPRAZOLE, VIOXX. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.
