Propylthiouracil side effect was reported by a Health Professional from UNITED STATES on Jan 22, 2009. Female patient, 19 years of age, was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and was treated with Propylthiouracil. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: hepatic cirrhosis, hepatic failure, hepatic fibrosis, hyperthyroidism, liver injury, liver transplant What is  liver transplant. Propylthiouracil dosage: 100 MG;TID. Patient was hospitalized. Patient died.

Female patient, 45 years of age, was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was treated with Propylthiouracil. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody positive, c-reactive protein increased, disease recurrence, dysphagia, hyperthyroidism, mouth ulceration, pharyngeal ulceration, red blood cell sedimentation rate increased, skin necrosis. Propylthiouracil dosage: 300 MG; QD; PO. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.
