Propylthiouracil side effect was reported by a Consumer or non-health professional from UNITED STATES on Sept 22, 2006. Female patient, child 7 years of age, was diagnosed with basedow's disease and was treated with Propylthiouracil. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: autoimmune hepatitis, cholestasis, encephalopathy, goitre, hepatic failure, hepatic necrosis, hepatic neoplasm, liver transplant What is  liver transplant, liver transplant rejection. Propylthiouracil dosage: 9 MG/KG; QD; PO. During the same period patient was treated with PROPRANOLOL. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.

Female patient, 19 years of age, was diagnosed with basedow's disease, hyperthyroidism and was treated with Propylthiouracil. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: acute hepatic failure, brain herniation, coagulopathy, encephalopathy, hepatic fibrosis, hepatic necrosis, hepatitis What is  hepatitis, hepatocellular injury. Propylthiouracil dosage: 100 MG TID PO. Patient died on 12/05/2007.
