Propylthiouracil side effect was reported by a Consumer or non-health professional from TAIWAN, PROVINCE OF CHINA on Mar 10, 2008. Female patient, 42 years of age, was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was treated with Propylthiouracil. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: agranulocytosis, bone marrow failure, chills, cough, dysphagia, enterobacter bacteraemia, erythroid series abnormal, headache , hyperthyroidism. Propylthiouracil dosage: 100 MG; TID;. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.

Female patient, 37 years of age, weighting 200.0 lb, was diagnosed with basedow's disease, hyperthyroidism and was treated with Propylthiouracil. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: chills, impaired healing, nausea , pain , pyrexia, skin lesion, staphylococcal skin infection, white blood cell count decreased. Propylthiouracil dosage: 50 MG 2 X EACH DAY PO. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.
