Propylthiouracil side effect was reported by a Pharmacist from UNITED STATES on Mar 27, 2008. Female patient, 19 years of age, was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was treated with Propylthiouracil. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: abdominal pain , acute hepatic failure, blood pressure increased, brain herniation, convulsion, decreased appetite, mental status changes, nausea , neurological examination abnormal. Propylthiouracil dosage: unknown. Patient died on 12/04/2007.

Propylthiouracil side effect was reported by a Physician from UNITED STATES on Apr 22, 2008. Female patient, 19 years of age, was diagnosed with basedow's disease, hyperthyroidism and was treated with Propylthiouracil. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: acute hepatic failure, brain herniation, coagulopathy, encephalopathy, hepatic fibrosis, hepatic necrosis, hepatitis , hepatocellular injury. Propylthiouracil dosage: 100 MG TID PO. Patient died on 12/05/2007.
