Propylthiouracil side effect was reported by a Pharmacist from UNITED STATES on Mar 27, 2008. Female patient, 19 years of age, was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was treated with Propylthiouracil. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: abdominal pain What is  abdominal pain, acute hepatic failure, blood pressure increased, brain herniation, convulsion, decreased appetite, mental status changes, nausea What is  nausea, neurological examination abnormal. Propylthiouracil dosage: unknown. Patient died on 12/04/2007.

Female patient, 19 years of age, was diagnosed with basedow's disease, hyperthyroidism and was treated with Propylthiouracil. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: acute hepatic failure, brain herniation, coagulopathy, encephalopathy, hepatic fibrosis, hepatic necrosis, hepatitis What is  hepatitis, hepatocellular injury. Propylthiouracil dosage: 100 MG TID PO. Patient died on 12/05/2007.
