Pentothal and tachycardia Patient Reports February 13, 2012

Pentothal Side Effects Report #4665033-9
Pentothal side effect was reported by a Physician from on May 09, 2005. Female patient, 35 years of age, was diagnosed with sedation and was treated with Pentothal. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: cardiac arrest , fluid retention, haemodialysis, haemodynamic instability, hyperkalaemia, hypokalaemia, post procedural complication, tachycardia, uterine enlargement. Pentothal dosage: 2-3MG.KG-1, INTRAVENOUS. During the same period patient was treated with MIDAZOLAM, SUFENTANIL CITRATE, NIMBEX. Patient died.

Male patient, 41 years of age, weighting 297.6 lb, was diagnosed with induction of anaesthesia, endotracheal intubation and was treated with Pentothal. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: bronchospasm, flushing, oxygen saturation decreased, tachycardia, urticaria. Pentothal dosage: 500 MG, 1 IN 1 DOSE, INTRAVENOUS. During the same period patient was treated with SUXAMETHONIUM, FENTANYL. Patient recovered.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: bronchospasm, hypotension, hypoxia, tachycardia. Pentothal dosage: 350 MG, 1 IN 1 D, PARENTERAL. During the same period patient was treated with NIMBEX, CURACIT, FENTANYL, SEVOFLURAN BAXTER. Patient recovered.
