Oxytocin Side Effects Report #6054516-5
Oxytocin side effect was reported by a Consumer or non-health professional from INDIA on Jan 19, 2009. Female patient, 22 years of age, was diagnosed with induced labour and was treated with Oxytocin. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: arrested labour, caesarean section, catheter related complication, endotracheal intubation, epidural anaesthesia, heart valve stenosis, increased bronchial secretion, mechanical ventilation. Oxytocin dosage: 6 MILLI IU/MIN GRADUALLY INCREASED TO 40 MILLI IU/MIN. During the same period patient was treated with FENTANYL CITRATE, FENTANYL CITRATE, BUPIVACAINE, THIOPENTAL, SUCCINYLCHOLINE CHLORIDE, OXYGEN, NITROUS OXIDE, VECURONIUM BROMIDE. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: acute respiratory failure, blood lactate dehydrogenase increased, cardiac disorder, cardiac failure, crepitations, dyspnoea, ejection fraction decreased, endotracheal intubation, heart rate increased. Oxytocin dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with DIURETICS, ACE INHIBITOR NOS, SULPROSTONE. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: acute pulmonary oedema, blood immunoglobulin e increased, brain oedema, bronchospasm, cardiac arrest What is  cardiac arrest, chemical poisoning, endotracheal intubation, haemoglobin decreased, hypotension. Oxytocin dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with BUPIVACAINE. Patient was hospitalized. Patient died.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: acidosis, chest pain What is  chest pain, dilatation ventricular, dyspnoea, ejection fraction decreased, endotracheal intubation, hyperkinesia, hypotension, hypoxia. Oxytocin dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with ERGONOVINE, BUPIVACAINE, FENTANYL, MORPHINE. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.
