Methimazole Side Effects Report #5704163-7
Methimazole side effect was reported by a Health Professional from AUSTRIA on Mar 28, 2008. Male patient, 88 years of age, was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was treated with Methimazole. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: agranulocytosis, apnoea, aspergillosis, hepatic failure, herpes dermatitis, hypotension. Methimazole dosage: 20 MG, BID, ORAL. During the same period patient was treated with CARBIMAZOLE. Patient was hospitalized. Patient died on 02/27/2008.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: gastrointestinal necrosis, genital pain female, granulocytopenia, hypotension, oedema genital, pharyngolaryngeal pain, septic shock, soft tissue infection, tachycardia. Methimazole dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with METOPROLOL TARTRATE. Patient died.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: agranulocytosis, aphthous stomatitis, hypotension, lymphadenopathy, oropharyngeal candidiasis, pyrexia, tachycardia, tachypnoea, tonsillitis. Methimazole dosage: 80 MG. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.
