Meperidine Side Effects Report #5131226-X
Meperidine side effect was reported by a Pharmacist from UNITED STATES on Oct 17, 2006. Female patient, 49 years of age, weighting 160.9 lb, was diagnosed with pain  and was treated with Meperidine. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: respiratory failure, serotonin syndrome. Meperidine dosage: 75MG IV BOLUS. Patient died on 08/15/2006.

During the same period patient was treated with CITALOPRAM, HYDROMORPHONE, ACETAMINOPHEN AND HYDROCODONE BITARTRATE, PROMETHAZINE, GATIFLOXACIN, ZOLPIDEM TARTRATE, LANSOPRAZOLE, ENOXAPARIN. Patient recovered.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: breakthrough pain, disorientation, illusion, paranoia, platelet count increased, respiratory rate increased, serotonin syndrome, white blood cell count increased, wound infection. Meperidine dosage: 230 MG TOTAL OVER 8 HOURS, PARENTERAL. During the same period patient was treated with CITALOPRAM HYDROBROMIDE, HYDROMORPHONE, HYDROCODONE BITARTRATE, PROMETHAZINE, GATIFLOXACIN, ZOLPIDEM TARTRATE, LANSOPRAZOLE, ENOXAPARIN. Patient recovered.

Male patient, 27 years of age, was diagnosed with chills, enterococcal sepsis, pathogen resistance and was treated with Meperidine. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: serotonin syndrome. Meperidine dosage: 25 MG, TWICE, INTRAVENOUS. During the same period patient was treated with LINEZOLID, CYTARABINE, DAUNORUBICIN, AMBISOME, TIMENTIN, TOBRAMYCIN, VANCOMYCIN. Patient recovered.
