Imipenem and cerebral infarction Patient Reports February 13, 2012

Imipenem Side Effects Report #5002519-1
Imipenem side effect was reported by a Health Professional from ARGENTINA on May 04, 2006. Female patient, 51 years of age, was diagnosed with pneumonia  and was treated with Imipenem. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: bradycardia, cardiac arrest , cerebral infarction, depressed level of consciousness, haemoptysis, red blood cell schistocytes present, thrombocytopenic purpura, ventricular fibrillation. Imipenem dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with HYDROCORTISONE, SALBUTAMOL, IPRATROPIUM BROMIDE, RANITIDINE, MOSAPRAMINE, HEPARIN, THEOPHYLLINE, DOPAMINE. Patient died.
