Diphenhydramine Side Effects Report #5876435-7
Diphenhydramine side effect was reported by a Health Professional from SPAIN on Sept 02, 2008. Female patient, 20 years of age, was diagnosed with suicide attempt and was treated with Diphenhydramine. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: anticholinergic syndrome, disorientation, gait disturbance, hallucination, auditory, mucosal dryness, mydriasis, positive rombergism, tachycardia, urinary retention. Diphenhydramine dosage: 16 X 50MG TABLETS (800MG). During the same period patient was treated with BARBITURATES, BENZODIAZEPINE DERIVATIVES. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: body temperature increased, bundle branch block right, electrocardiogram qt prolonged, grand mal convulsion, hypotension, intentional misuse, metabolic acidosis, mydriasis, pupillary reflex impaired. Diphenhydramine dosage: 40 (50 MG) TABLETS ONCE, ORAL. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.

After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: blood glucose decreased, blood pressure decreased, cyanosis, dry eye, dry mouth, mydriasis, respiratory rate increased, somnolence. Diphenhydramine dosage: 5 ML EVERY 6 HOURS AS NEEDED (5 ML), ORAL. During the same period patient was treated with ACETAMINOPHEN. Patient died.
