Diastat side effect was reported by a Pharmacist from UNITED STATES on Oct 09, 2007. Male patient, 42 years of age, weighting 112.4 lb, was diagnosed with grand mal convulsion and was treated with Diastat. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: blood pressure decreased, blood sodium decreased, cardio-respiratory arrest, lethargy, oxygen saturation decreased. Diastat dosage: (10 MG FOR SEIZURES MORE THAN TWO MINUTES RECTAL). During the same period patient was treated with CARBAMAZEPINE, VALPROIC ACID, LEVOTHYROXINE, METOCLOPRAMIDE, OMEPRAZOLE, FERROUS SULPHATE. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.

Female patient, child 3 years of age, weighting 25.00 lb, was diagnosed with convulsion and was treated with Diastat. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: balance disorder, convulsion, lethargy. Diastat dosage: 5 MG PRN RC. During the same period patient was treated with TRILEPTAL. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.
