Male patient, child 11 years of age, was diagnosed with thalassaemia beta, prophylaxis, congestive cardiomyopathy and was treated with Deferoxamine. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: arrhythmia
, atrial flutter, cardiac failure congestive, congestive cardiomyopathy, ejection fraction decreased, serum ferritin increased, treatment noncompliance, type 1 diabetes mellitus, ventricular internal diameter abnormal. Deferoxamine dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with FOLIC ACID, PENICILLIN, DIGOXIN, FUROSEMIDE, LISINOPRIL, CARVEDILOL, AMIODARONE, WARFARIN. Patient was hospitalized. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: caesarean section, congestive cardiomyopathy, dilatation ventricular, dyspnoea, ejection fraction decreased, electrocardiogram t wave inversion, fatigue, gallop rhythm present. Deferoxamine dosage: 50 MG/KG 5 DAYS/WEEK. During the same period patient was treated with DIGOXIN. Patient recovered.
