Cefepime Side Effects Report #5878976-5
Cefepime side effect was reported by a Health Professional from UNITED STATES on Sept 08, 2008. Male patient, 61 years of age, was diagnosed with escherichia infection, prophylaxis, antifungal prophylaxis and was treated with Cefepime. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: ascites, catheter related infection, escherichia sepsis, multi-organ failure, pleural effusion. Cefepime dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with TRIMETHOPRIM, MICAFUNGIN, TACROLIMUS, MYCOPHENOLATE MOFETIL, PREDNISONE. Patient died.

Male patient, 61 years of age, was diagnosed with escherichia bacteraemia, immunosuppression, antifungal prophylaxis, cytomegalovirus viraemia and was treated with Cefepime. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: abdominal distension, ascites, bilirubin conjugated increased, blood bilirubin increased, blood culture positive, catheter related infection, cytomegalovirus viraemia, dermatitis bullous, ecchymosis. Cefepime dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with TACROLIMUS, MYCOPHENOLATE MOFETIL, PREDNISONE, MICAFUNGIN, TRIMETHOPRIM, DAPTOMYCIN, GANCICLOVIR, MEROPENEM. Patient died.

Male patient, 40 years of age, weighting 207.2 lb, was diagnosed with device related infection, wound infection pseudomonas and was treated with Cefepime. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: catheter related infection, pancytopenia. Cefepime dosage: unknown. During the same period patient was treated with VANCOMYCIN, CEFAZOLIN, CIPROFLOXACIN. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.
