Atovaquone side effect was reported by a Physician from on Dec 17, 2004. Female patient, 17 years of age, weighting 110.2 lb, was diagnosed with malaria prophylaxis, neurocysticercosis, epilepsy
and was treated with Atovaquone. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: cerebral parenchymal calcification, complex partial seizures, computerised tomogram abnormal, convulsion, status epilepticus. Female patient, child 12 years of age, was diagnosed with antifungal prophylaxis and was treated with Atovaquone. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: activated partial thromboplastin time prolonged, brain oedema, cerebral haemorrhage, cerebral toxoplasmosis, coma, convulsion, headache
. Atovaquone dosage: 1200 MG / PER DAY / ORAL. During the same period patient was treated with DAPSONE, VORICONAZOLE, ITRACONAZOLE, MYCOPHENOLATE MOFETIL, CIDOFOVIR, STEM CELL TRANSPLANT. Patient was hospitalized. Patient died.
