Male patient, 70 years of age, weighting 183.0 lb, was diagnosed with hypopharyngeal cancer and was treated with Amifostine. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: arthralgia, asthenia, blood count abnormal, culture stool positive, dehydration, enterobacter infection, febrile neutropenia, hepatic cirrhosis. Amifostine dosage: 500 MG, DAILY, IV. During the same period patient was treated with CISPLATIN. Patient was hospitalized. Patient recovered.

Amifostine dosage: 740 MG/M2 ON DAY -2 FOR 5 MINUITES. During the same period patient was treated with MELPHALAN, COLACE. Patient recovered.
