Alteplase Side Effects Report #4716953-8
Alteplase side effect was reported by a Consumer or non-health professional from UNITED STATES on June 29, 2005. Male patient, 47 years of age, was diagnosed with thrombosis in device, clonus and was treated with Alteplase. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: basilar artery thrombosis, brain herniation, brain oedema, brain stem syndrome, carotid artery occlusion, cerebral haemorrhage, cerebral infarction, coma, corneal reflex decreased. Alteplase dosage: INTERMITTENT THROMBOLYSIS DOSES RANGING FROM 50 TO 100 MG (NR, INTERMITTENT THROMBOLYSIS), IV. During the same period patient was treated with ASPIRIN, MIDAZOLAM, WARFARIN, CLOPIDOGREL BISULPHATE, HEPARIN, PHOSPHENYTOIN. Patient died.

Male patient, 65 years of age, weighting 261.0 lb, was diagnosed with cerebrovascular accident and was treated with Alteplase. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: cerebral disorder, cerebral haemorrhage, cerebral infarction, cerebrovascular accident, necrosis. Alteplase dosage: 0.9 MG/KG ONCE IV DRIP. Patient died on 09/26/2006.

Female patient, weighting 17.64 lb, was diagnosed with catheter related complication and was treated with Alteplase. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: brain abscess, brain oedema, brain stem infarction, cerebellar infarction, cerebral infarction, meningitis , subdural empyema. Alteplase dosage: 0.77 MG, Q 1 HR, IV. During the same period patient was treated with FOSPHENYTOIN, MAGNESIUM SULPHATE, COLACE, FAMOTIDINE, HEPARIN, CEFOTAXIME. Patient died on 10/28/2008.
