Acyclovir side effect was reported by a Consumer or non-health professional from UNITED KINGDOM on Apr 18, 2006. Male patient, 30 years of age, was diagnosed with varicella, prophylaxis and was treated with Acyclovir. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: application site bleeding, contusion, haemorrhage, herpes zoster, mouth ulceration, multi-organ failure, musculoskeletal chest pain, renal failure acute. Acyclovir dosage: 10 MG/KG TID IV. During the same period patient was treated with VARICELLA. Patient died.

Female patient, 13 years of age, was diagnosed with prophylaxis, systemic lupus erythematosus and was treated with Acyclovir. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following side effects: back pain , bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, cholestasis, hepatic failure, hepatic fibrosis, hepatic necrosis, herpes zoster, histiocytosis haematophagic, immunosuppression. Acyclovir dosage: 1000 MG, QID, ORAL. During the same period patient was treated with PREDNISOLONE, AZATHIOPRINE. Patient was hospitalized. Patient died.
