That evening I went out to dinner with my family and my taste had returned to normal. When I got home I resumed the drug (actually took 2 so that's 800 mg of guaifenesin in my system). My ability to taste has absolutely disappeared. I couldn't even taste orange peel or peanuts. Nothing. It was then that I went on line, sensing the connection. Sure enough several are describing the same side effect. That's it for me. No more of this junk. Too weird for me. Funny thing is guaifenesin has been around for years in many cold remedies. I remember reading in the Merck Manual years ago that it's efficacy was undetermined. So there you have it. It's been around for years, it didn't really work at those lower doses, the FDA approves it's use at higher doses which seems to loosen phlegm better than it did before but now it causes all kinds of side effects. And the drug company remarketing it with the million dollar ad campaign is charging a fortune for the crap. Do't use it. Could eat... without feeling like I was going to explode...the dizziness and Diarrhea still there. Day 3 & 4 dizziness got worse and so did the bloating. No diarrhea Day 5... bloating getting better was finally able to eat. Dizzy though so bad i can't drive. On day 1 is usually the worst…had Diarrhea and the worst dizziness and stomach cramps ever

I took 425 mg worth of unison and Benadryl. damn was that . I would be talking to my dad who wasn't there and when he was all I could say was some weird alien language. I proceeded to fall down and pass out multiple times and couldn't bite a cookie lmao I had no control over my body. so then I went to sleep and woke up to everything being black and white except for my fish tank which was swirling colors and hundreds of fish...Ionly have one fish.. I walked closer and they disappeared but then I fell down again. after rising up I went back downstairs where I fumbled around and regained control.. it was lifechanging and drive a strange sort of fear and respect for otc medicines to where I will never do anything like that again... but you gotta try everything in life our you'll never know who you truly are :-) lol I’m quite enjoying reading these. I am now single with 2 kids and don't want more. These symptoms are getting worse and I want to know if there are Ny better birth controls out there for people with sensitive bodies.
